At 9 km from the Great Oaks Hotel, on the grounds of a medieval construction site, 45 workmen are busy building in the middle of a forest, a fortified castle using medieval methods and techniques with materials such as water, stone, soil, sand and wood.

The Castle of Saint Fargeau

At 4 km from the Hotel, the castle of St Fargeau is one of Burgundy’s principal tourist attractions.
The Castle is famous for its beautiful and majestic sound & light show in the months of July and August. Set in a superb setting the show lasts for 1 and a half hours. It presents 1000 years of history with 600 actors and 60 cavaliers.

Only a few minutes from the Hotel, Boutissasint is a nature reserve which extends over 400 hectares and hosts 400 animals that we can admire in their natural environment. Deer, wild boar, buffalows…

Ratilly Castle

Erected in the thirteenth century on the remains of an eleventh century fortress, the castle sheltered the Hugenos and the Sansénistes during the eighteenth century. The owners have successfully restored the castle while respecting its original beauty. The castle hosts numerous activities : music concerts, arts workshops, local potters exhibitions…
